Join the Finnish Cultural Center and the Wayne State University Humanities Center for a full reading of the Finnish national epic Kalevala!
Big Epic Read of the Finnish national epic Kalevala will happen again this year on Saturday, February 28 starting 8 AM in the US Eastern time zone and ending when we are done, probably around 3 AM
the next morning. We are partnering with the Knights and Ladies of Kaleva lodges in Farmington Hills, MI as well as the Finnish Cultural Center, also in Farmington Hills. Just like last year, folks can join in person at the Finnish Cultural Center or over Zoom from wherever you are. If you’d like to read, you just arrive to the event and get in line to claim a poem when you are ready. If you don’t want to read, you are most welcome to just listen! Just like last year, people can read in Finnish or English. If you don’t have a full-length poetic translation of the Kalevala on hand, we will also provide an online copy throughout the event.
